Food Bank Partnership with Sainsbury’s Streatham Common

Posted by

The church has recently agreed a food bank partnership with our local Sainsbury’s supermarket.

In-store donations will be collected weekly by a team of volunteers from the church who will deliver them to the Norwood and Brixton Foodbank warehouse at St Margaret’s Church, Streatham Hill.

The idea for the partnership grew from conversations among church members about extending the reach of ministry to meet the needs of people in the wider Lambeth community. Discussions with the store were initially hampered by the Covid-19 pandemic but an agreement was eventually signed and became effective earlier this year; the first collection from the supermarket was made in May.

Immanuel is committed to the future development of the agreement with Sainsbury’s and the relationship with Norwood and Brixton Foodbank. Discussions with the food bank about church members donating specific Christmas presents for children have already begun.

If you are interested in joining our team of dedicated volunteers or would like to get involved in some other way, please let us know using the contact form on our home page.
